Researcher since: 2013

Elisângela Brito Pessoa Vilar graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE - Brazil, 1997), Ergonomics specialist (UFPE - Brazil, 2002) and PhD in Ergonomics from Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (FMH.UTL, 2012), related with the use of Virtual Reality to study the influence of environmental variables over the wayfinding into complex buildings.

Participated as a researcher in projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology - FCT ("Using Virtual Reality to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Security Information - PTDC / PSI / 69462/2006" and "Future Security Warnings - Virtual Reality in the Study of PTDC / PSIPCO / 100148/2008 ") and by European Community funds (e-Exhibitions - eten517335 and project AAL4ALL - NSRF No. 13852).
She is currently an effective member of CIAUD - Interdisciplinary Center for Studies in Architecture, Urbanism and Design, a collaborating member of IADE-UX.Lab, and member of the Ergonomics and Usability of products, systems and production research group of the Design Department of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).

She has several articles published in the main reference magazines in her area. Her main areas of focus are the study of human interactions with complex systems through virtual environments, usability and user experience, with an emphasis on architecture and interior design.

Research Project: Virtual Reality in the Design of Safety and Efficient Buildings: Increasing the emergency wayfinding performance considering the influence of the environment, the other users and the technology-based signage.
