João Thompson Armando Sitole

João Thompson Armando Sitole was born in Beira city - Mozambique, in 1981. Has a degree in Architecture and Physical Planning by the Faculty of Architecture and Physical Planning of Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo.
From 2007 to 2008 collaborated with the Center for Studies and Development of Habitat (Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento do Habitat - CEDH) in the study of slums of Maputo and Matola cities.

From 2008 to 2010 worked as architect and urban planner in Studies and Projects Department at Municipal Council of Maputo. Later, from 2010, worked in consulting for several projects related to Moatize coal mining social impact over 912 Km, across Mozambique and Malawi.

Currently is undertaking doctoral studies in Urbanism in the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon. Research project: Desafios e riscos de uma cidade média mineira africana: o caso de Moatize em moçambique.
From 2013 to 2017 was granted a PhD Scholarship from FCG - Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
